Bioeffects Project

Bioeffects Assessment Project identifies and assesses biological effects associated with contaminant exposure. Thirty intensive regional studies, with 2 to 4-year durations, have been conducted since1986 using the Sediment Quality Triad approach.

The databases include: sediment, tissue, and water chemistry for over 80 organic and inorganic contaminants; toxicity bio assays; biomarker assays; histopathology; and benthic community assessment. Relational databases exist for St. Lucie Estuary, Chesapeake Bay, and San Francisco Bay. Federal and State agencies and local stakeholders cooperate on these studies. Tell me more..
