Data Download Help Movie Transcript

In the download section of the Monitoring Data Mussel Watch site, there are seven data files to choose from: Site, Analyte Pathology, Station, Field, Lab, and QA.

For each data file there is a data dictionary that defines the file field headers: FGDC metadata, documentation, and the XML file.

For each complete data file can be downloaded as a zipped file by clicking on the data file and then the Download Tab button.

If you do not want to download the entire file, you can create a subset of the file by clicking on the Data Query button.

First, select the field or column to query. For example, the primary species code (spec_cd1).

Second, choose the operator. For example, = Equal.

Third, choose a distinct value. For example, the American Oyster (scientific names, common names, and code are all found in the data dictionary).

For example, I am only interested in this species in the Gulf Coast region, so I will select region, equal to Gulf Coast and then click the And Operator button.

When adding more queries to the query string, be sure to click the operator button after defining the query.

Finally, select the columns to be included in the subset file. Click the Get Result button.

You can either view the subset file online or download it by clicking the Download Tab button.
