Implementation of Restoration of Injured Seagrass Beds in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and other US Trust Waters(2005)

Project Description:
Under the Mini-312 program, CCFHR scientists have, in cooperation with other Federal and State of Florida managers, begun to restore seagrass beds in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary that have been injured by vessel groundings. Damage assessment are conducted by Damage Assessment Center and Sanctuary Biologists and restoration plans are developed based on these damage assessments and methodologies published in the Programatic Environmental Impact Statement for Seagrass Restortation in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Restoration plans are developed, reviewed and implemented in as timely a manner as possible pending settlement with responsible parties.

Expected Outcome:
Development of restoration plans to be implemented as restoration projects upon awarding of contracts.
