Links to help the end user efficiently use EndNote.

Using EndNote & CSA

After you have saved your citations, go to the EndNote Import Filters and click on Cambridge Scientific Abstracts IDS. You will see a list of filters for CSA, download the ones you are interested in. Next you will need to open a database in EndNote, select Import from the File menu, then select the CSA file you just saved and the CSA filter you want to use. Click on the Import button and your citations will be downloaded into the EndNote database. The ASFA filter is compatible with all CSA Life Sciences databases, including Biological Sciences, and Environmental Science and Pollution Management, and is the best option for the Materials Sciences databases. The Sociological Abstracts filter may be used with Social Services Abstracts and Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts. The most up to date filters may be downloaded from the EndNote website.

ProCite

Links to help endusers use ProCite.

Using ProCite & CSA

Right click on the cambridge.cfg cambridge.cfg file, then select Save Link As..., change the file type to '*.cfg', and move it to your config directory of ProCite. By using your file management software (Windows Explorer, File Manager, etc) you can move the file from the default directory into the ProCite directory. Select Import Text File from the Tools menu, then choose the CSA file you downloaded. For File Type, choose Tagged, for File Format type in "cambridge", then designate which ProCite database you would like to import your citations into. Click the Transfer button, then click Choose. Select the database you were searching in, then click OK and your citations will be imported. If you were using any of the life sciences databases, such as Biological Sciences or Environmental Science and Pollution Management, the 'ASFA: Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts' filter is appropriate for these databases. The most up to date filters may be downloaded from the ProCite website.

Reference Manager

Using RefMan & CSA

The CSA-IDS.cap filter is included in version 9, but for older versions you may download the file here by right clicking on the link then selecting Save Link As..... Save the file in your WinRM8\capture directory. By using your file management software (Windows Explorer, File Manager, etc) you can move the file from the default directory into the RM directory. The most up to date filters may be downloaded from the Reference Manager website. Once you have the filter in place, open a database and select Import Text File from the Reference menu. Choose the CSA-IDS.cap filter and the CSA file you downloaded. Click Import and the citations will transfer to your database.
